School Visits: Engineering in Your Classroom

Bring engineering into your classroom through a requested visit from the Cockrell School of Engineering’s K–12 Outreach team. Depending on availability, visits may feature engineering presentations, demonstrations, hands-on activities, or conversations with UT engineering students. Experiences introduce students to engineering and connect with classroom learning.

Audience

K–12 teachers and school groups interested in introducing students to engineering or connecting engineering concepts with their curriculum. No prior engineering experience is needed.

About the Experience

School visits help students discover how engineering connects to their interests and everyday lives. By bringing engineering experiences into the classroom, we aim to expand access to STEM learning and help students see themselves as future engineers.

We welcome requests from educators, especially those at schools with limited access to engineering courses, programs, or extracurricular STEM opportunities.

What a Visit May Include

Depending on your students’ needs and our team’s availability, a visit may include:
An introduction to engineering and its different disciplines.
A presentation or demonstration connected to classroom topics.
A guided engineering activity.
A conversation with engineering students about their experiences and educational paths.

Submitting a request does not guarantee a particular activity, speaker, or visit date.

Scheduling and Requests

School visits are available by request, subject to staff availability, location, and scheduling.

To request a visit, email cseoutreach@utexas.edu with:

Your name, school, district, and school location.
Students’ grade levels and estimated number of participants.
A few preferred dates and times.
Classroom topics or learning goals.
Available classroom space, technology, and any accessibility considerations.

Our team will review your request and discuss whether we can arrange a visit that fits your group’s needs.
