Field Trips to Cockrell

Bring your students to UT Austin’s Cockrell School of Engineering to explore engineering and experience a university campus. School field trips offer opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world applications and help students imagine a future in engineering. Visits are available by request and depend on scheduling and availability.

Audience
K–12 school groups interested in exploring engineering and learning about college. No prior engineering experience is needed.

About the Experience
A field trip to the Cockrell School introduces students to the possibilities of engineering through experiences tailored to their grade levels, interests, and learning goals. Students can discover different engineering disciplines, learn how engineers solve problems, and explore pathways to studying engineering.

We especially encourage requests from schools whose students have limited access to engineering courses or extracurricular STEM opportunities.

What a Visit May Include

Depending on availability, visits may include:
- An introduction to engineering disciplines and careers.
- Conversations with UT engineering students about college and their experiences.
- Hands-on engineering activities or demonstrations.
- Opportunities to explore engineering spaces on campus.

Activities vary by visit. Specific experiences, speakers, and access to facilities are subject to availability.

Scheduling and Requests

Please email your field trip request to cseoutreach@utexas.edu with:

Your school information.

Students’ grade levels.

Estimated group size.

Preferred dates and times.

Learning goals/engineering disciplines to explore for the visit.

Providing multiple possible dates helps us explore scheduling options.

Submitting a request does not reserve a date. Our team will review your request and contact you to discuss availability and possible activities.

Planning Your Visit

Once a visit is confirmed, we will coordinate arrival instructions, the visit schedule, and other logistics with your school contact. Please include any transportation constraints or accessibility needs in your request.
