The Southwest Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Convention-sponsored K-12 Teacher Workshop is designed to empower teachers with the necessary skills to effectively teach earth science and energy concepts to their students. The workshop provides hands-on training, lesson plans, and resources to help engage students and foster a love for science. The workshop’s mission is to empower teachers to effectively teach earth science and energy concepts through standards-aligned content and professional development. Teachers will also learn about STEM career opportunities in earth science and energy industries.
Workshop Date and Time:
TBD – September 2026
Rock Solid: Teaching with Energy will be held in Midland, TX and is FREE to teachers with a $25 refundable registration fee. Coffee and light breakfast will be provided from 7:15 am to 7:45 am to kick off a day of fun! Lunch is included and refreshments will be provided throughout the day. Upon completion of the workshop, each participant will receive a certificate providing 8 CPE hours.
