Professional Development
UTeach Computer Science provides College Board–endorsed professional development to prepare new and returning computer science teachers for success in their classrooms. Teachers explore the rigorous, project-based UTeach AP CSA curriculum with unique interplanetary missions where students tackle hands-on programming challenges as they "travel through space."
Teachers complete self-paced modules, with on-demand support, and attend periodic check-ins with their PD facilitator over a 3-month timeframe. Teachers can register on a rolling basis and have 3 months to complete their PD. Teachers who fully complete this professional development workshop will earn 30 hours of CPE credit (continuing professional education).
During these in-depth professional development workshops, teachers will:
• Explore curricular resources (lesson plans, projects, and labs)
• Strengthen content knowledge in computer science
• Master AP course requirements and College Board expectations
• Cultivate high‑impact instructional strategies and AI tools
• Customize Codio platform tools, autograding features, and LMS integrations
Prerequisites: Teachers will be completing Java assignments and unit projects starting in the first week of the AP CSA Professional Development Workshop, so previous experience with Java programming is required.
"This is the best PD instructor I've had in over 20 years of education." —Thomas S.
